"How'm I Doin'? (Hey, Hey)"
Jack Payne & His Band. 1932.
The label of this Imperial states this as a 'Slow Fox Trot'?, but then I know nothing about dancing. I do know though when I hear a first class dance band record from 1932 with plenty of bounce!.
Roy Fox made an excellent version on Decca, but Jack Payne engaged the popular Variety artist, Leslie Sarony to provide the vocal chorus here.
Sarony was exceptionally busy himself in the recording studio's appearing on many labels during the late 1920's and early 1930's.He was famous in his day as a performer and also composer of such comic ditties as ' I lift up my finger and I say 'tweet. tweet' and 'Ain't it grand to be blooming well dead!'.
The chorus here includes Leslie Sarony, Jack Jackson (providing some excellent Scat) and Jack Payne also maybe a couple of boys from the band too. It was recorded in October 1932.
Yes, mine just says 'Foxtrot' too. If that's a slow Foxtrot, I'd love to hear how Jack Payne handles a Quickstep!

One of my favourite Imperial's, performed with real gusto. Incidently, my copy states "fox trot".
