@sideslide23 at that time though we where heavily focused on aviation and freeway construction, We did have some innovative rapid transit systems build then though. Bart is one of them.

@tehatemachine and there just no room to build, the land is full its full of farmland and denze cities, they should have build it 30 years ago before the land got filled up.

@sideslide23 they weren't smart enough to cut costs. They could build it much cheaper, but because of fucking labor unions, it's not likely........ and restrictions as well

As of Right now, the project is very unlikely because rightnow the State Senator and otherpeople are Boycotting Govenor Jerry Brown and commense him to reconsider on killing the entire project and leave everything that it was and are, the price tag for this is over $50 Billion and soon will be $60 Billion, therefore the HSR is more likely will be canceled before we reach September of nextyear.

I'd rather see the N700 modified. The problem I see with using a TGV or ICE is the acceleration is not as good due to 1/2 the wheels being unpowered. The Shinkansen has all wheels except the very front and back ones unpowered for fast acceleration. It would help on the local stops to have fast acceleration.
