I got a degree in electronics technology a year ago, and I haven't done shit with it in terms of acquiring skills for an occupation. When I was studying electronics a few years back, they gave us those outdated oscilloscopes from the 70s to play with. Hardly any of the features this guy's talking about have I ever seen.

my professor would kill me if id use these bnc adapters instead of a probe, but i think in this case it is ok since it simpilifies the understanding.
