looks to me like one could use bamboo.I live in texas we do not have berch.i use a peace of PVC.you can find PVC any where.

great video. & demonstration of bushcraft skills, however in a survival situation I would have drank all the water you were squeezing out of that moss as it would be perfectly clean anyway then I'd have time to build a shelter & a fire
