The Swarovski star will be lighting 76-feet above the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in New York City and is comprised of 25,000 crystals, with 1,000,000 facets, measures 9 1/2 feet in diameter and is 1 1/2 feet deep. Weighing 550 pounds -- including 300 pounds of crystal panels -- it is composed of six outer rays and six smaller inner rays. The main surfaces of the rays are made of point-mounted safety glass, the same shatter-proof glass that adorns the facades of New York City buildings. The crystals are affixed to the inner sides of the glass in a tight, scale-like pattern to ensure maximum brilliance.

  • This is splendid and very beautiful! There is nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas with such beauty. These trees are grown especially for this purpose . There is nothing wrong with this. I feel that these trees were given to Mankind for a good purpose. It is no sin, on the contrary, honoring the Lord with beauty is a wondrous thing. I'm sure that that is also in the Bible.

  • how do they seriously get that on the top of the tree???

  • @natava1 Just like in the book of Isaiah where it says a man grows wood to cut down, make fire for himself, bakes some bread and says "Ah, I am warmed" , then the rest of it he makes into a god, in the likeness of what? A person, animal, or some emperor, then clads it it purple and blue rainment, puts gold and silver jewellery on it, and he says deliver me for you are my god. If decorating a tree was sinful then why does God decorate His trees with snow and icicles?

  • @derekdb2 The Bible is talking about man making for himself a god and decking the idol like the heathen so often did in the Old Testament. How silly. I never thought of a tree as an idol or god.

  • The Book of the Prophet

    Jeremiah

    10-3,4,5

3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
