Dan Zanes is a twenty-first century version of the guy who used to conduct the town band from the gazebo but, in lieu of a gazebo, he's playing places like Carnegie Hall and The Melbourne International Arts Festival. His music has been described as possessing the raw spontaneity of early rock and roll, with elements of folk, and the soulfulness of West Indian music appropriate for both big and little ears relaxed and exciting at the same time. Zanes has released a dozen or more albums. His Dan Zanes and Friends' Catch That Train! was co-released with Starbucks/Hear Music and won the 2007 Grammy for Best Musical Album for Children.
