Sport and art will collide at the Ranelagh Arts Centre in Dublin on Thursday, September 8, when the great and the good of Irish rugby will attend a Rugby Legends Art Exhibition by Irish artist Declan Goulding.

Just days in advance of the Rugby World Cup, a dream team of Irish rugby will descend on Ranelagh, including Jack Kyle, Ronnie Dawson, Phil Orr, Fergus Slattery, Ray McLaughlin, Mick Quinn, Tony Ward and a host of others rugby legends. The exhibition will be opened by Ronnie Dawson.
The September 8 exhibition is in aid of the IRFU Charitable Trust, a cause that will be met with the approval of every supporter of Irish rugby.

The artist involved, Declan Goulding, said: "It is an honour to paint portraits of each of these rugby legends. I'm sure I won't be the only one looking to gather some views from each of these legends, at exactly the time our Irish team prepare in New Zealand.

"I am delighted to see sport and art collide at the Ranelagh Arts Centre this September."

One of the most innovative community art centres in Ireland, Ranelagh Arts Centre is very pleased to present this exhibition in honour of rugby in rugby-mad Ranelagh, just a stone's throw from the Aviva Stadium.

This event forms part of a 'Month of Culture' at the Ranelagh Arts Centre, curated by the newly-appointed artistic director, Sarah Bracken.

This is Declan Goulding's second solo exhibition. These portraits are all 500x500mm mixed media paintings. A Dublin native, Goulding specialises in portrait paintings.

Drawn to rugby as a theme, his first solo show last year included a Pastel/Gouache of Moss Keane. This work was purchased by Mick Quinn and hangs in the bar of Lansdowne Rugby Club in Dublin.

Goulding is also well-known for his work in RTE, TV3 and at Windmill Lane Studios.
