A special Amtrak shop train caught as Train 30 passed by in the foggy morning light on the CSX Pittsburgh Sub. The train is moving 5 stored 800 series P40s and two Amfleet cars from the Bear, DE shoppes to the Beech Grove Shoppes in Indiana. Not sure why they chose to go via the former B&O route.
In the background you can see the old McKeesport Station formerly used by the old PATrain.

  • WOW!!!! I missed that one but is that Cool!!

  • I know it does not take all those engines to pull two Amfleet cars.

  • Very cool. And neat seeing the old PATrain station.

  • The P40s are in the process of being reactivated after being in storage for the better part of five years. Seen here being moved from Bear, DE. to Beech Grove, IN. to be overhauled. The two Amfleet cars permit the train to move at passenger train speed (79 MPH) as opposed to the 50 MPH limit imposed on light power moves.
