This is footage taken TODAY, MARCH 19th, of an elephant rocking back and forth, tied with 10 foot chains, in a small blue tent, alone. She is confined waiting to perform for thousands of people for the circus. Alone. Confined. Bored. Stressed. This is typical treatment and abuse of animals ripped from nature and forced to perform. TWENTY FIVE elephants have died in the past 15 years in the hands of their trainers at Ringling Brothers. They have been cited or failing to provide veterinary care, minimum space, exercise, and drinking water for their captives. They've also been caught beating their animals with bullhooks and many of their elephants are infected with a deadly strain of tuberculosis that is contagious to humans.
