Itawamba Agricultural High School decided to cancel the prom for all students because a lesbian couple wished to attend. The ACLU is now on the case and the school faces a lawsuit. Constance had to face backlash from other students at the school. I can't imagine how scary that must have been.

I wrote a letter to the superintendant and other members of the school board and I encourage you all to do the same. Keep it professional.

  • she had no right to be that way she wuznt even going to go she even told ppl that

  • @sexyk8erbitch202 So what you're saying is that Constance didn't even plan on going to the prom yet she was told that she wouldn't be allowed to attend? That really doesn't make any sense to me. She obviously had to approach whoever is in charge and tell them she way planning to attend or else she couldn't have been told no. Right?

  • they canceled because she had to make a big deal about it not cuz she wanted to come i know i go to this school

  • @synysterguitartist7x Do you know how many times I hear that from people who go to this school and the other high school where the gay student Derrick Martin attended? It's as if you all think the fact you go to these schools automatically means you know everything. Well this is sad but it's obvious that I know more about the whole situation than you do. Yeah she made a big deal about it. Why? Can you guess why? I'm giving you an opportunity to answer so we can see if you're paying attention.

  • Judge Rules Against Lesbian Teen in Prom Flap. Read about it on Google news!

  • @haboreh Actually the judge ruled that Constance did indeed have her rights violated by being denied entrance but since the school cancelled it nothing can be done because the prom no longer exists.

  • my question for them is this: If they are trying to use "moral environment" as a reason ... I never went to prom, but every one of my friends who went to prom and every other prom I've ever heard of was FAR form 'moral' ... closed minded american bigots ... very sad :'(

good job dude and good luck Constance et al!

  • I fully agree with you. If I'm going to prom, I would want to go with my girlfriend...and if they cancel it because of us justw anting to go and have fun, I would have to throw some chairs...I'd be pissed if they did that.

  • @MrRadioBroadcast I know some people that are muslim. They don't wish to kill people. And I think they would take ofence to your statement.

  • Figth muslims ... they don't want to discriminat you they want to kill you ...

  • why is this an issue! two humans go to the prom, because they're the same sex, this is the result? i swear, we straight people, because of all this dumb crap that goes on, i think roles should be switched until we learn. the gay community should be aloud to marry, go to the prom, be the 'norm' as it were, because from my point of view, most straight people are idiots about unimportant things.

  • @SweetSoulWolf

    No.

Companies should not have the right to discriminate against anyone for immutable qualities.

This is why we have anti discrimination laws. You are not allowed to discriminate for religion, race, age, sex, or national origion.

A religious organization can discriminate for religious reasons, as long as they don't receive public money.

The catholic church can discriminate except for their charitable organizations that receive public funds.

  • @SweetSoulWolf

From the federal courts web sight.

14% of discrimination suits brought before a judge are won.

This does not include the cases dropped before reaching a judge

86% of the time discrimination suits lose.

  • @Blairtim69 It all depends on who is the lawyer handling the case.

I have seen people not raped in the news because they were black claiming to be raped. I have seen people not fired from jobs (they sit all day and not do any work) because of fear of a racial discrimination lawsuit. Bad credit is no exception....if you can throw in any discrimination charge (even if unfounded) you will win.

  • @Blairtim69 As for Cracker Barrel and Dominos Pizza they are privately owned companies (owned by christian organizations/groups) and they should be allowed to have their religious beliefs applied in their hiring practices.

However.....if society feels it is wrong let that influence their purchases in the company stocks. When money is involved that is a good test of how strong their religous beliefs are. I do not know if Exxon is also a christian owned so I can't say that for them.

  • @SweetSoulWolf

It would be nice to enjoy those freedoms and liberties.

I hope we all will be able to one day.
