@davidburns13 much happier then your average American. Maybe it is their help that you need and they have the wealth that we can learn from. It is not about the material things. And even climbing Everest, it isn't about the money it is about the tenacious and determination of mankind and a testament of how focus and passion can accomplish anything in the world. I do agree though the Sherpa's could be compensated better for their almost heroic act of strength on a regular basis

@piecefactory Sorry to break it to all you super gun hoe save the world types, the meager couple of million dollars that are spent on climbing Everest would not change a whole sovereign state like Nepal. They would need a entire economy turnover, way of life would change, and mindset of life and perspective of priorities would all have to change to bring about the type of change you all are talking about. And another thing is yes they may not have running water or electricity but they are

@ranka35 Between 300 and 600. Although the death rates have declined over the years and nowadays it's a lot less dangerous than it was a few decades ago. But still, when the shit hits the fan at the higher regions of Everest, you're in really deep trouble, nobody can help you.

I love that mountain. It is so amazing and beautiful. I am a coward though and I would be to chicken to climb it. I am always tired and I love to sleep.
