That is scary how much power those oldschool supercomputers used. They should make great heaters for winter.

Wow, you have been busy! The shelves look great. Great job and keep those vids coming.

Hello there my antipodean friend, have you had the opportunity to power up the E10k? I am really looking forward to seeing that bad boy running!

@datudorman2 Not as yet - now is the season, the shed runs at 20F right now so no chance of the E10k overheating the building. I'm trying to get back into the Z80 right now, because it's been a while. Soon!

Thanks so much for posting this update! That power routing just gives me the shivers. Good luck through the winter! I hope you have some snowed-in days to just stay at home and play. :)
Question: Do you think the cold temperatures will affect your collection? Or is the humidity more of a worry?
CaptainValor 3 months ago
@CaptainValor I shouldn't think so - I generally don't fire them up when it's colder'n'hell in there, at least not without heating the building and the machines first for a few hours with the furnace, so no real danger of condensation killing things. Deep freeze shouldn't hurt equipment that's powered down. The humidity, however, corrodes lots of stuff in there :) Thankfully, winter is zero humidity. Good for computers, pain in the neck for me.
