This was filmed with the GoPro HD in the fully waterproofed case, mounted to the side of my Helmet. Any suggestions on how to improve the sound quality, specifically getting rid of the wind noise, would be much appreciated.

  • I've been doing som research and i found someone that said stick cotton balls around the case but not on the mic and it stops that loud screech you hear from the noises bouncing around. i have yet to try it though. As for the non water proof case theres 2 compants "windcutter", and "Micover" they sell wind reducing mic covers that go over the nonwater proof case and eliminates the wind noise for up to 30 mph but idk how it sounds above that.

  • @JxPhan Cheers for the info, I'll be testing when summer comes around again :)

  • Take it out if the waterproof housing and use the regular lid. That helps a lot.

  • @TheJurisDoctor I tried that, it's still awful at anything more than 20mph!

  • @PrivateCustard As long as its in the right case and it's not mounted backward (the go pro emplem on your mount should always face forward), that's probably as good as you're going to get. Search youtube for a video titled "Home made filter to reduce the wind noise for the GoPro (open back lid)." His creation seemed to work great.

  • @TheJurisDoctor I'm looking at making a jacket for the case that's similar to those outdoor mics that you always see animals trying to eat on comedy blooper TV shows!

Summer's over now anyway, I had a MASSIVE tankslapper the other day, which broke my lock-stop and put two dents in the tank where the bars came round numerous times. So I'll take the bike to my work to spray it up again and re-make some brackets. I'll sort out the sound issue at the same time!

  • This is just me, I think that noise is either wind noise or, air going in between the Camera and the helmet.
