How Much I Love The Stranglers

The Stranglers are a prog-punk group that formed in the late 70s. They despised by both punks and music journalists alike for being too musical and generally square pegs in a round hole. They received unexpected attention following a law suit with the Manic Street Preachers who allegedly plagierised the song Duchess with a scarily similar track, If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next (I actually think the latter was only vaguely derivative).

No, you didn't but the fact I created such a video suggested such. If I'm to be quite honest Bazz, I revel in my ignorance about this or that detail regarding the band and just let the music speak for itself.

I can however claim to be an anorak regarding the literal themes of the songs. They have by far the greatest "honest perv" factor.

"Rattus Norvegicus" does not mean "black color rat" ... it is the Scientific name of a type of rat that now lives in urban areas around the world. It is the most common rat and by the way it is brown or gray in color. "Rattus Rattus" for example is a smaller sized rat that can be found in rural areas, and in fact is the one known as "Black rat".

Other than that you are absolutely correct in your speech about the Stranglers.

I also think "Black and White" is the best of their albums.

there are one or two inaccuracies but thats ok, you are obviously enthusiatic and that is good. i have been a fan since 78 and seen dozens of gigs, the early gigs were a riot, literally!!! and what an atmosphere. would not have missed those days for the world., they are consistently brill. . they are a great bunch of blokes too, i knew jj back then, what a guy!!i disagree with your remark about the recent stuff though. suite xv1 is one of the best they have made.
