This is an interview with Yoshinori Ono (Producer of SF) about the new upcoming Super Street Fighter IV which should come out on consoles by Spring 2010, pending a pre-console Arcade Release which is unconfirmed. This interview was done at TGS (Tokyo Game Show).
Rumors about SSF4: * The previously leaked characters are all said to be in the game. Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Dudley, Ibuki, Makoto, Adon, Cody and Guy. The new characters are rumored to be: o Hakan - An Arabic grappler obsessed with oil. o Juri - Evil Asian girl fighter working for Seth. * All characters will have two Ultras. They will both be available at one time, not selectable like with Third Strike's Super Arts. The commands to execute your Ultras do not overlap. o It sounds like the characters from Third Strike are set up with their prior Super Arts. They had three in that game, so one will be their Super and the other two their Ultras. o Gen has four Ultras because of his two fighting styles. One of these is said to be an Air Ultra. o All characters still have one Super, except Sakura who apparently has a Shinkuu Hadoken (Super Fireball) as well. * Some characters will have Air Ultras. * The Bonus Stages will be returning. * This will be an exclusive arcade release at least for a few months. * An official announcement is said to be coming at the Tokyo Game Show and on the Japanese Street Fighter 4 blog soon. * Expect the return of the many familiar Supers, and a few new ones like Metsu Shoryuken. You'll see the return of Chun-Li's Kikosho (Super Fireball), Gouken's Denjin, Sagat's Tiger Cannon (Super Fireball). * Ibuki has a run command. * Guile has his Sonic Hurricane move from Marvel vs. Capcom 2. * Dudley has his Chain combos from Third Strike, plus one additional Chain combo. * Cody is the only character with an Alpha Counter and he still has his knife. He supposedly needs his knife to perform one of his Ultras. * Rufus can cancel-break the last hit of his Spectacle Romance, or the launch kick of Space Opera Symphony. * Guy has his Chain combos. * Makoto has her Tanden Renki Super from Third Strike. * Zangief is said to have a 720 degree motion Air Ultra called the Siberian Blizzard. * The game takes place one year after Street Fighter 4. * Dudley was searching for his car in Third Strike, in this game he's searching for a rose. * T. Hawk's storyline involves him protecting Juni or Juli. * Dhalsim's new Ultra is called the Yoga Shangri'la. * There's a new gameplay system called Tadan Saving, the phrase implies a multi-hitting or multiple-level Focus Attack. * The console characters are all said to be added to the upcoming arcade release, with the possible exceptions of Seth and Gouken.

  • @SeventhSun hey, i just like street fighter in 2d more. don't get me wrong, 4 is awsome, and i am glad they came out with arcade edition, but the balance is a tad bit horrible, and focus doesn't make it any more fair. still a great game on it own right, i just prefer third strike more..... cause makoto is a beast in that one. :3

  • @SeventhSun,

Capcom fans want to see 3D designed Street Fighter games buddy. Street Fighter EX was fully 3D on a 32 bit Playstation system back in 1998. I remember Capcom Fighting All Stars was a fully 3D game but it was cancelled and became Capcom Fighting Jam, then Capcom Fighting Evolution. Seventh Sun 2D has gotten old for Street Fighter Capcom is stepping into 3D with Tekken x Street Fighter in 2012. Street Fighter x Tekken is 2.5 D with 3D visual effects way beyond regular 3D.

  • @RageOfLeoEX

    No thank you.

  • @Kevinlclayjr

What about Street Fighter EX? It's not like you 3D advocates start learning to appreciate that series well enough in the first place.

No prayers with hypocrites. If 2D is good, keep it. 3D excursions should be embraced without being too demanding (two meanings) also.

If you are upset just go play that no-combo-meter Tekken then.

  • @SeventhSun

I don't care if they made her even weaker either - it's not as if I'm not used to playing low-tiered characters in most fighting games.

The re-balancing part I feel is unnecessary as you people often overdo or undero things. You listened too much to those gamers and thus Seth as an example became too weak to match his majesty as the boss of the game.

If anything you should make EVERY character a demigod like in Marvel VS Capcom 3 or uniquely strong like Rival Schools. Seriously.

  • @SeventhSun

Thus saving me from an unnecessary expenditure. Though I really wanted Elena in still. Those two got a bit too strong for my liking and was abused based on that by those beginners and pro pro pros alike that took the initial cool reaction on my part to dip. Well, this is for Dan, Juri and Guile.

If they wanted a second new release I hope she gets in. I am quite confident they could make her even more feminine and sexy (almost on par with Felicia) like Ibuki and tomboy Makoto.

  • Thanks I skipped this stupid version because Elena was not voted in by the equally bigoted and dumb gamers and I got Arcade Edition instead as I heard the Chinese twins Yun and Yang were in there.

  • is he always happy?

  • It really sounds like he introduces him as YoshiTORI Ono, not Yoshinori Ono. oops!

  • graphics wise, super street fighter 4.

gameplay wise, street fighter 3 third strike all day.
