  • CeaseMedia, This was not on public TV. I got this video months later. I remember here in California they had something called SelectTV. I could watch a scrambled mode on UHF channel 15-25 around there, since the channel would broadcast on UHF, and then the Select TV box subscribers had would unscramble the channel. I could barely see the fight happening in scrambled mode- I never ordered the fights at home since I did not have Select TV, but I listened on the radio to between round reports.

  • These two were already bulletproof in boxing history before they even met, but after the war - they became immortalized.

Two of the best ever, hands down.

  • I grew up on greatness: staying up late into the night and watching the fights or seeing them in the morning on video with the whole family watching.

I miss the great fights the great atmosphere and most importantly the great boxers!

I cannot believe how poor modern boxing is. So few really good boxers and even less competition in the divisions.

I miss the great matches. And this one was THE BEST! We'll never see the likes of this again. ever.

  • This video is damn near as priceless as the fight itself. A snapshot of boxing in 1985.

You're absolutely right and I used to watch all those fights back in the day. Nowadays, it's hard to find one worth watching. They don't compare.

  • @johnnyafairbanksak True I was in NY at the time. They still do closed circuit on occasion. I cover Boxing so I am very familiar with PPV. I stand by what I said about PPV being more special then as compared to now. As a fan I wish we could go back to the 80s as a writer I hope that if they finally sign Pacquiao-Mayweather that the "Big Event" feel will be there and that the fight will live up to it.

  • @bvd1022 It was seen on PPV, but only in the larger markets like New York and Los Angeles. The rest of the country had to view it on closed-circuit TV at arenas or theaters, which was the norm until PPV became widely available.

  • @mag6333 This was back when PPV was special and not a common thing. I miss the 80s Boxing was great then. It still is, but the 80s was a magical era for the sport. thanks for posting.

  • Klassic fight from 2 great fighters who didn't shy away from contact but met it head on for better or worse.

  • Irony: Hearns says that he would knockout Hagler in 3 rounds. But then, hearns was knocked out in 3 rounds

  • @ricflarefucknsucks shut it gimp boy.
