Quaker Oats did a lot of similar commercials. The commercial was done in a style of a point - counter point debate. An adult celebrity "debater" and a child counter-point "debater" try to answer one of the World's biggest riddles, by responding to the one debate question that is given to them by the moderator. The Question: IS LIFE CEREAL FOR CHILDREN OR ADULTS?
Quaker Oats was the "alternate sponsor" of "BEWITCHED" (with General Motors' Chevrolet division) from 1964 through '68 {Gary Owens, announcer}. Quaker's Life cereal "sponsored" a series of "debates", with Westbrook Van Voohris [the famous narrator of "The March of Time"'s radio show and newsreels in the '30s and '40s] as "moderator". At the time {1967}, "Winch" and Jerry were starring in their syndicated "WINCHELL-MAHONEY TIME".
