With Tommy Cooper, the trick was not the point of the act. Sometimes they were amazing, sometimes simple and sometimes they didn't work at all - but he was always cripplingly funny! There's no one comes close today...

@bizzweed He was actually a fantastic magicial. A member of the Magic Circle if I recall correctly.
In his stage performances he pretended to screw up the tricks/have them not work at all as part of his act. And became one of (if not the) funniest man to have lived. - This is opinion of course.
