"Trying"- Original Song by Ben Robichaux
When my alarm goes off at 6, I slap it lightly.
I curse the sun that wakes me almost nightly.
I curse the bags under my eyes, and clean my crooked teeth, and I die inside.
I back my little car outta the driveway.
I park it on the side of the highway.
And I walk that walk we used to walk and remember holding hands, and I die inside.
So I'll have myself a beer and drink it quickly.
I'll wash away my sorrows if I can.
But when this bottle meets its end, and you're not there to be my friend I will die inside.
When I see your pretty face it hurts me.
When I hear your pretty voice my voice deserts me.
When I see you walk, you didn't spare me a second thought, and I die inside.
I will drive back to my home, and do the only thing I know.
I set my alarm for 6 AM.
She will drive several thousand miles using the gas she can't afford.
She will try to live again.
