This footage is recorded using the lowest quality setting on the Canon HF100 and compressed using Quicktime with an H.264 codec (this is a significant compression allowing me to upload using a 256k connection). I have NOT adjusted or corrected any of the colours as I wished to show the original quality. By adding colour correction filters you can make this footage look magnificent.

  • I read a review that said the user experienced leaking into the camera housing at 30 ft. How deep were you when you did this footage?

    The footage is gorgeous!

  • @key2irritum I shot most of this around 15m (45+ft). The camera is rated to around 60m (180ft) I believe. Leaks can occur because of a variety of reasons, the most common generally being human error in the housing setup

  • Your video is so clear and bright. I have a equinox housing with a Sony HDR 5 HD video camera. I am not able to get bright shots like yours. How did you get such great bright shots without a video light? What settings did you set your camera on?

    Thanks,

    Daniel

  • @dfwxxx As some advice, try minimising distance between your subject & camera, be aware of sun's importance when filming, shoot upwards if needed, use correct red filter for conditiond, w.b if possible (I did not do this as did not have the option to, however you can simluate manual w.b. by switching camera on while aiming it at the sun... this will then set the auto wb for the depth your at). Also think about your depth and remember that red light and hence colour is lost rapidly as you descend

  • How do you like the Equinox over say the Ikelite? Did you use a light? And where was this/

  • @flspy Apologies for the delay! This footage was filmed in the Red Sea without a strobe. The Equinox is similar to handle compared to an ikelite, however may be more neutral in the water.
