Song begins at 5:10
Words by Dave Van Ronk, melody traditional English.
A bonus to the Rise Up Singing project. A little coarse language, moms and dads.
Dave Van Ronk's version: http://youtu.be/_w5JlDn9WCw
Patrick Sky's version: http://youtu.be/1efLCJ5q0nc
Thanks for posting this, Matthew. Very sobering lyrics.

Nice song and nice singing. I like acapella, as well. No big surprise, right? 'Cause it's you who sings it. :))

I'm glad to see you're having a go at a capella - and handling it very well. I have recordings of Dave Van Ronk and Patrick Sky, but somehow missed this song. I agree Laos is a beautiful country. We went to Luang Prabang some time ago on our first trip to Laos and loved the place.

Well, yes the language is abit difficult (coarse), but it speaks with truth, about war.
I'm thinking that there have been several Irish songs about war, in a similar tone.
You have done a great job of this.

The main difference between the Irish pipes and the Scottish pipes is that with the Irish pipes you can drink a pint of Guinness while playing them... the Irish think of everything.
