Jahangir Alam, a 51 year old Pakistani American Civil Engineer who worked for California Department of Transportation, died in a car accident on July 22nd 2009, near Bakersfield, California. He had origins from Kasur, Punjab.
Our beloved friend, a staunch liberal Muslim, was the life and heart of Pakistani Community in Bakersfield, California.
He was killed along Highway 99, Wednesday evening when his car drifted off the road and overturned in the median. The wreck took place around 5:30 p.m. south of Sandrini road, while he was heading home from Los Angeles with his wife Abida Alam, and two children, Nayab Alam, 14, and Arbab Alam, 9. The passengers suffered only minor injuries.
Jahangir Alam was truly the life and blood of the Pakistani Badminton Club of Bakersfield. A patriot, comrade and a great friend, he is deeply mourned and missed by by all who knew him.

Thanks Omer:
We shall always feel his void. It is very painful now and Bakersfield Muslim Community will never be the same. He now lives in the heavens above us, under the absolute protection and security of Allah, smiling at all of us.
