This was filmed early this summer. A young male gray fox slinks into my yard and steals the squirrels' peanuts! He ends up getting an unpleasant surprise when a shell gets stuck between his teeth. Poor guy. . . Thankfully, he managed to get it loose, and then promptly went for more peanuts! I got visited by many gray foxes on warm summer evenings, all of them seeking the peanuts I left out in bowls meant for my squirrel friends. The foxes really seemed to enjoy them too. Gray foxes are more omnivorous and seem to eat more vegetation than red foxes (hence, why they tend to like the peanuts so much).
NOTE: To prevent any ridiculous comments, I just want to assure everyone that this fox was NOT harmed. He was NOT choking, he just got a peanut shell stuck in his tooth and it was driving him bananas until he managed to get it out. He was absolutely fine afterwards, as you can see from the concluding film at the end. He even went sniffing around for more peanuts. I did NOT feed the peanuts to him. He stole them from a bowl I put out in the yards to feed the squirrels.
Also, please excuse the camera shaking at some parts -- the camera was zoomed-in to quite a degree, and every slight movement made a big difference. Please do not leave critical comments about that. . . Thank you.
