Sphaerichthys selatanensis - Wild caught Crossband chocolate gourami, from Asia.. This video was taken last year and shows one of the only documented spwanings and freeswimming fry that i have seen after years of detailed research into the species. This fish was bred by myself in my fishroom here in Cheshire, England. It is the spawning that i am most proud of in my fishbreeding portfollio..The fry were released after being mouthbrooded for 17 days and were large enough to take fresh baby brineshrimp as a first food..If you are a serious breeder working with these fish or any species of chocolate i would love to hear from you.
Good job! I find them one of the most beautiful fish. Keep them in a 250 litre tank with black water. Together with dark brown bogwood, L204 and Neritina snails and rather low Kelvin lighting, I have a whole golden-brown atmosphere in the tank. They come rather cheap here in Belgium, but it's hard to find healthy animals. Black peat water with pH below 6 cures their common skin disease when its not too progressed in my experience.

Very cool that you put this on you tube! I currently house 3 species of Chocolats. Regular, selatanensis and acrostoma. I bred the regulars but not the other two. What are your water parameters when you breed selatanensis?
