  • 1. It's not a sin, just annoying and disrespectful to have ANY guest on your show and not even be able to pronouce their name, especially one as simple as "Peart". 2. I don't pay any attention to people who call other people "gods". 3. Popular opinion doesn't change what's correct. 4. I uploaded it because I'm sharing all the rare Rush-related stuff I have. I have no control over how much time he got to speak. 5. I HAVE done much better, there's many hours of stuff on my channel. Thanks.

  • @xxxx15us he did pronouce his name right. Its French Canadian. I know everybody in the US pronouce it as "PERT," with out pronouncing the "A." When saying Neals name, you always push that "A." PEAAART!

  • @Abonanno24601 I can't believe you've posted three times in a row to insult me and rant about the pronunciation of Peart but you call him "Neal" on top of it. Look, go watch the end of the Pamela Wallin interview with Peart on my channel where she says his name correctly and then even confirms with him right there that it's correct and there'll be no doubt how it's pronounced. It sounds like "ear" with a "t" on the end. It's comical that people still can't get a simple name right.

  • @xxxx15us everyone has actually been pronouncing it wrong over the years...its not "pert" its" PEERT" stupid americans

  • @wctennisnyc Why are you telling me this? I've always pronounced it correctly as "PEERT" when most others didn't. And being American has nothing to do with getting it wrong, I suggest you go look at all the documentary/interview footage on my channel from even Canadian sources that not only call him "PERT" but actually spell it that way, too. Stupidity is universal so please take your anti-Americanism elsewhere.

  • I will reserve my comments about Maher and say Peart is a brilliant man. One thing I will say is if you're going to sit around and talk about how dumb people have become and you're a show host then it behooves you to get the pronunciation of your guests' names straight.

  • @mmsun44 No doubt, and what's really odd is how he not only says Peart's name incorrectly but he screws it up in a way I've never heard anywhere else. Like Peart is French or something. Bizarre.

  • What's ironic is that the panel is discussing the limited attention spans of our youth, yet when an interesting point is made (such as a book and its derived movie being a different experience), the format of the show is such that they have no more time to explore the idea, or they interrupt the flow to go to a commercial. What has just been demonstrated here is that our media helps create the conditions for short attention spans.

  • Neal is without dobt the most intelligent Rock and Roll drummer this planet will ever see..one only has to listen to him interview or sit back and take in his lyrics....he's a brilliant, talented man....how painful it must have been for him to sit in the same room with bill maher.

  • Can't say I was very impressed with Bill Maher's treatment of Neil Peart on this show.....and I have usually liked Bill Maher. When he "made fun" of Neil , using a word like "facile"...I felt like smacking the guy across the head.

  • @xxxx15us

It's like "pear" and then he sticks a "t" on the end. Makes a refreshing change from the ludicrous "pert".

I'm surprised people don't rhyme ir with "heart"...

But of course it is pronounced to rhyme with hear, fear, dear, tear etc, I often think my name if boring as first and last names are just one syllable each, but at least people rarely mispronounce them.

  • lol there is more than pop culture. Theres pop culture and rush culture.

  • Neil Parrot !!?? IT's PEART Bill......

  • its neil peart bitch, not pert

  • @DickLodge68 Interesting thought troll. You mad bro?

  • Really too bad, because Bill Maher is one of the biggest jackasses on the planet...not funny at all. Meanwhile, Rush is probably the best of what they do.

  • @xxxx15us I thought "Peart" as well over the years? English is so damn hard? Glad I never addressed the man? Took me 30 years to find out "Peert"? For God sake I love the man, the damn professor?
