I first became familiar w/Hovie & the Statesmen from the Gaither vidoes.
I've been a fan since. They were SO ahead of their time. I've not heard a smoother quartet w/the magic they had.

If anyone ever questioned if this statesmen conglomeration was the best ever, this video should put any questions to rest. This was the finest gospel quartet ever assembled. Range, showmanship, blend, they had it all. They could sing any style and make it their own. IMHO no other male quartet had the versatility of this bunch. Thanks again Professor!

When I was a kid in the 60's Wally Fowler was the promoter for the Allnight Gospel singing.I saw all of the big name quartets there.I met every one of these guys and others from other quartets too.About midway of the singing there would an intermission and at the concert venue there was a big room off the vestabule that all of the quartets would come in and sell their albums behind tables.I met 'em all,but like I said I was a kid then.I barely remember meeting them.But at least I know I did.
