  • Hi 414gbg,

    What you read about the jet beam is true for horizontal swimming. It also means that they can't really see where they're going, because their eyes are on the same side as their mouth. But for going up and down they use gas. Inside their shell is a series of interconnected chambers, that can be individually filled with either water or air. By filling a chamber with air, they go upwards. By filling a chamber with water, they go downwards.
