  • amazing sax soli blows my mind everytime

  • Our HS jazz band Saxophone and Trumpet section was so good one year that we played this. It's a damn intense song for a 16 year old. I especially love the saxophone break. The bari sax part? The best.

  • this is just fantastic. got this chart today. its gonna be great fun. this is why being a sax player is so good:)

  • @HunterDT Trololo

  • Ahhhhh, Good old "Hurtin For a Squirtin". Played this my Freshman year on 2nd Tenor. Fun times.

  • Easily one of my favorite Maynard albums.....between Big Bop Nouveau and Harry's Blue Light, Red Light album (both of which featured Roger Ingram on lead) the early 90s was a jazzgasm for fans of lead trumpet players!!

  • Wow our high school is trying this. Lol. As the drummer I have an open solo where the drummer does an eight-bar then repeats the hit and then the eight-bar again. That should be fun.

  • This is a completly different and (IMO) inferior recording the on Footpath Cafe. Sounds like this was recorded live.

  • @jazzicallytalented28 When i was in hs, we tried to tackle this song also. Our trumpet sectiont failed at it lol! Good luck to you .

  • If you knew anything about Maynard or what he even sounded like, you'd know that it was him playing the solo almost instantly.
