Ahhhhh, Good old "Hurtin For a Squirtin". Played this my Freshman year on 2nd Tenor. Fun times.

Easily one of my favorite Maynard albums.....between Big Bop Nouveau and Harry's Blue Light, Red Light album (both of which featured Roger Ingram on lead) the early 90s was a jazzgasm for fans of lead trumpet players!!

Wow our high school is trying this. Lol. As the drummer I have an open solo where the drummer does an eight-bar then repeats the hit and then the eight-bar again. That should be fun.

This is a completly different and (IMO) inferior recording the on Footpath Cafe. Sounds like this was recorded live.

@jazzicallytalented28 When i was in hs, we tried to tackle this song also. Our trumpet sectiont failed at it lol! Good luck to you .

If you knew anything about Maynard or what he even sounded like, you'd know that it was him playing the solo almost instantly.

Our HS jazz band Saxophone and Trumpet section was so good one year that we played this. It's a damn intense song for a 16 year old. I especially love the saxophone break. The bari sax part? The best.
