This video was shot Oct 10th at Seaside Oregon's City Council meeting after a 3-day occupation of city halls steps!
October 7th, 2011
We the people of OCCUPY SEASIDE are standing in solidarity with OCCUPY WALL STREET and all the other peaceful OCCUPATIONS taking place across the United States. We are standing against global economic oppression and local elitism.

We will peacefully assemble at Broadway and the turnaround in Seaside, Oregon at 5pm on October 7th and we will march past the evil banking institutions in our downtown area on our way to City Hall where we will have a short spiritual ceremony and prayer circle involving people of many faiths. We will stand together against social inequality and global destruction. We stand together for peace, love, compassion and understanding but above all else we stand for equality and we stand as the people, united!

We have not obtained a permit because we do not believe we should have to ask for permission in this free country to peacefully assemble; the Constitution of the United States which gives us that right supersedes any other law which would intend to restrict our rights.

We will not impede traffic or break any city ordinances during the assembly and march. We ask the local police to allow us to demonstrate peacefully and to give us fair warning so that we may get those who do not wish to participate in direct political action away from the area where the peaceful demonstrators will continue occupying until they are peacefully and willingly arrested for "Illegally Lodging."

Homelessness is about to be (or already is) an epidemic and should not be illegal! These local laws which criminalize homelessness are immoral and we will not recognize them. We will continue to be peacefully arrested throughout the full-weekend-occupation in protest of this law because as Saint Augustine said, "an unjust law is no law at all" and we believe it is our duty to challenge these unjust laws with the intent of changing them.

In addition to the housing problems caused by the macro-economic climate, The City of Seaside has immorally and irresponsibly taken away the homes of over one hundred individuals and families with one vote and now those "condo's" sit empty while the motels, streets , cars, tents, trailers, and woods are filling more and more with people and the weather is about to get cold and we do not have sufficient shelter to offer our townspeople. We will approach Seaside City Council with a proposal for a solution to the problem of homelessness and their morally reprehensible "illegal lodging" ordinance on Monday October 10th at 7 pm at Seaside City Hall.

We would ask that the people of Clatsop County please join us on Friday evening or Monday evening at City Council. Do what you can to educate yourself on the corporate control of our once-great-country. Remember what buying power is and that this is a country of the people, by the people and for the people. Remember the lessons of MLK and Gandhi and ask yourself if you think your vote really counts. Move your money to a local bank or credit union, learn about our fiat currency system and fractional reserve banking and take the time to care for yourself and your loved ones more.

In love & liberty, the 99%
