Quite often you can hear bearing noise on a test drive, but when you lift the vehicle and take the load off the wheels the noise goes away. If it's a real noise it's most likely still there but it's just not amplified with the load. Using a listening device makes it pretty clear where the noise is.
Amazing the tools available eliminating the guess work, thats why dealers charge so much

I do this work all day long
If the noise IS NOT louder /deeper in a LEFT OR RIGHT HARD TURN AT 20+MPH, then the problem is in the CENTER of the vehicle (Carrier Bearing).
If the noise gets louder in a RIGHT TURN, the DRIVER SIDE bearing is shot, if the noise gets louder in LEFT TURN, the PASSENGER BEARING is shot.
If you dont know which wheel bearing is bad front or rear, deflate a tire to 15 -20 psi and drive, the noise will get louder at the problem wheel bearing.
My 2 cents: )

wheel bearings aren't really that costly unless you have the bearing that comes as your whole hub assembly then its about 100$+

@keetonbob
It sounds like a "cha-ching, cha-ching" kind of noise. And if you believe this, I got some prime ocean front property for sale in sunny Arkansas.
