Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali, UAE Minister of Health, opened today the annual fun fair which was organized by Al Noor Training Center for Children with Special Needs under the title "Hope for our Children" in cooperation with Samsung at the center's headquarters in Al Barsha, Dubai.
The minister said: "The Ministry of Health encourages all practices that maintain healthy lifestyles for special needs people calling all the members of the society to provide them with the best healthy lifestyles and treatment for handicapped children to improve their health and lives".
He referred to the societal partnership with the members of the society in achieving the visions of the wise leadership and strategy of the federal government in raising the standards of living for categories of the society noting that the children with special needs must have full support in their daily lives according to their needs and requirements.
He said: "Training and educating children with special needs in all fields to be productive members of the society is one of the noble goals of the center that must be encouraged and supported; the center is one of the leading centers in the society as it fulfills their demands and needs".
Dr. Hassan assured the dissemination of health awareness for the children with special needs as it leads to societal partnerships and productive cooperation in the society lauding the efforts of schools, families and members of the society in providing education and continuous learning and training for the children with special needs.
He then toured the carnival activities which included games, auditorium activities, performances by swat crew, science show, magic show, camel and pony rides, Painting competition, charity bazaar, henna and face painting.
Currently, the center provides transdisciplinary training programs for 270 special children from 24 nationalities in addition to teaching, physiotherapy, occupation, therapy, speech and language therapy, psychologists, sports and music. Al Noor also has its own work placement unit which trains children with an aptitude for open employment.
Al Noor Annual Fun Fair is enjoyed by over 5000 visitors every year. The event is full of interactive and entertaining activities for both children and adults. The event targets all ages and includes games, rides, bazaars, quizzes, raffle draws to a variety of food stalls. This year's event will take place from 10 am to 10 pm.
It is noted that Al Noor Training Center for Children with Special Needs is a nonprofit organization operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Affairs and provides quality professional training to the special needs community of Dubai. The center caters to children and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities that may include, but not restricted to, mental impairment, autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other conditions associated within intellectual and developmental disability.
Isphana Al Khatib, Director of Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs said: "The attendance of H.E. Present in the inauguration of the event was Mr. Young Soo Kim, President of Samsung Gulf Electronics and the Chairman of the Al Noor Centre- Mr. Khalid Al Halyan with the Board Members of Al Noor Training Centre.

"By working with Al Noor to host the Al Noor-Samsung Hope for Children Fun Fair, we are glad we were able to help raise awareness and funds to better serve the center needs, empowering Al Noor Children to live, learn and strive" Al Khatib stated that Al Noor Annual Fun Fair is the second fundraising event of the year. The aim of the event is to raise a substantial amount of funds to cover a part of the running cost of the Centre and address the Centre's budget deficit.
Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs has for the past 29 years been providing quality professional training to the special needs community of Dubai. They are a nonprofit organization and currently provide training to 260 children with special needs. With a capacity of 300, its purpose-built facility has the equipments and requirements to run a holistic programme addressing all domains of development. The training aims to maximize each child's potential with a view to integration into the mainstream society.
