It's hard to see but are you playing from your thighs or ankles on the kick? You seem to lean back when the kicks start, which to me is indicating that you're playing from the thighs and you need to keep your balance. Ankles wouldn't need that leaning back... or am I wrong?

I'm just asking because I'm curious, I've been alternating between both techniques, still haven't decided which one to practise full time or so to speak :) Thighs give much more power, that's for sure..

well, i've never really been sure what technique i'm using with my feet since i sometimes change styles completely even during the same song, but i play with my heels up and i guess during the fast part in this song i was using my thighs.

the td3-kw kit is great for it's price, i've tried one out and have no complaints about it! you'll love the mesh head snare :)

i learn everything i play by ear, i have been taking classical percussion lessions for years though.
