Space Shuttle Challenger Successful Launch 1983

Three years before the disaster, Challenger had a perfect launch on June 18, 1983. There are a few short audio dropouts. Yes, I know it's a video camera pointed at a black & white TV, but that's the best I could do in 83.

Who's providing the anchoring and commentary for CBS?

I really can't remember, but RJY4356 was right about one of the anchors. I remember the sound of his voice now that RJY pointed it out. It was Morton Dean. He worked for CBS for a long time.

Amazing. I wqas gonna say I don't think most ppl got home video until around 1987 or alte 1980's. Are the audio dropouts ediitng out your own excited comments watching live? : ) Any other classic 1980s events you captured? This is great.

Yeah, I cut out the audio because screaming kids can really hurt your ears (hey, he's 3 yrs old at the time, he can't help but be excited). If I remember my history correctly the very first VHS VCR's came on the market in 1976 (JVC brand) and cost a bundle. I got my first VCR in 1988. I have 1989 news report about a tornado in my area posted in my videos.
