The importance of early care & education is everybody's business. It is the parent's responsibility to give their child the best upbringing possible. It is the caregiver's responsibility to support families and children by providing nurturing, quality learning environments. It is a community's responsibility to understand the importance of the first five years and to build systems for a successful future.

Thank you! This is the most foolish thing I have ever seen. Children need to be with their mothers if at all possible and not some one who gets paid to stress out a four year old. Even a dog becomes needy when taken away from the mother to early. Research the guy behind this. Don't let anyone guilt you into sending your child to preschool. Research both sides. Remember NO ONE loves and nurtures babies like their mother or family. By third grade it doesn't mater if your kid went to preschool.

Scaremongering to milk cash out of parents. Playing up the fears of parents that their pride and joy will end up on drugs. Give me a break!

    This is very good.

Monetize a positive expectation. We define it as PVofPE-Prek.

Do first things first if done right will create the new money to proceed now. We define it as FTFRTFT.

We are not discussing academics per se when we talk about early care and education. We are looking at how best to support young children in their development and insuring that they do not fall behind. Early childhood Education is always play based and facilitated by skilled adults who know well the developmental expectations of children and how to support that development through their natural encounters.

Academics--what is that? Increasing vocabulary, concepts of numbers and print, the organization of nature? Most children from middle and higher income homes get this in their daily living--it is not these children who are creating the gap. Finland has 2 things going for it—they are more homogenous and have the easiest language in the world to learn to read. It takes 2 months to learn to read Finnish and 2.5 years to learn English. Quality early learning experiences are a necessity in the U.S.
