Flossing Sockeye makes no cents? A trip to the grocery store today shows how it makes more economical sense to buy Sockeye Salmon from a commercial source than it does to snag/floss sockeye in the summer. For less than the price of the gas to drive to the river, I got a nice, delicious, fresh sockeye salmon.

  • ok but the fun is to catch fish not just to go to the store i understand were ur coming from i just spent 240 dollers on a stuiped rod but hey its funfor me

  • @McgeeNineTeen yes it's a lot of fun to CATCH fish. This involves a serious commitment of time, effort, skill and a lot of luck to get out to a location and TRICK a fish to bite. Just tossing out a line and snagging fish, with no trickery, skill or luck is pretty sad and pathetic. If you want to CATCH fish, set yourself the challenge to TRICK a fish to bite, it will be far more rewarding.

  • if ur so against snagging then why do u eat fish that geat caught by gill nets and the fish suffer and have no chance of escaping when if u floss atlleast they have a chance get ur topic straight gill nets are worse so ur supporting somthing even worse by buying that fish...

  • @McgeeNineTeen this video is about how much money people spend to go and snag fish. It's more economical to take fish from a commercial source than it is to go snag fish. i fish for sport, not for food. sport fishing means tricking a fish to bite.

  • why does anyone fish? because its gratifying and fun. we live in a place with an amazing natural resource and you make it seem like a crime to utilize that. I'd hate to ask you what you think of first nation salmon fishery...if i ever caught you filming me flossing id probably try and floss you buddy...

  • @kushfourlife It is a crime to snag fish, read the Section 10 of the BC Sport Fishing Regulations of the Fisheries Act. Summary offence, ergo a crime. Aboriginal fishing is a constitutionally protected right. Maybe instead of being an internet tough guy, try reading: R V Sparrow, R v VanderPeet, Delgamuukw v BC, R. v. N.T.C. Smokehouse Ltd, and section 35 of the constitution. As a non-aboriginal, I have a privilege to fish for sport, but as a sportsman I have a duty to promote good ethics.

  • Its illegal in Alaska too. If you go down below the mouth of the Russian, it just is criminally stupid. Everyone is flailing the water with a coho fly bent open, and always a snagging at the end of drift. People pushing into spots right on top of other people, fights breaking out, and no room for the kids.

I dont know what the answer is to make it go away, except by limiting the weight used by making a sink tip the only legal way with an un weighted fly, which can work really well.

  • flossing is gaye, thanks for taking the time to post this

  • oh god dont even get me started.

Flossing sockeye IS FUN> fishing isnt all about the table fare. People actually find it fun to go catch their own fish your such a douche.

SO ITS BETTER TO NET A FISH THAN FLOSS IT? more ethical? You sir, suck ass.

  • Looks like you pissed off a lot of guys who think flossing means they're good at fishing.

  • @screamingreelstv i do that as much as possible as well i go to the coquitlam river and fish for springs coho chum and steelhead as much as possible! and yes it is more rewarding when u trick it into biting
