Michael Martin Melendrez talks about soil micro-organisms. The difference between aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, facultative anaerobes, hypervirulency and its causes an then he relates these to possible problems with compost 'tea', food safety, etc..
hes got the campus power grid behind him.

If you are going to teach, please first do your best to learn. Worthwhile CT is comprised of not only bacteria (little squiggley things seen w microscopes) but also flagellates & naked amoebae. These are the nutrient cyclers; the purpose for making CT. One may also observe fungal hyphae in CT as well. You recommend adding 33% H2O2 to CT. Have you determined the effect this has on protozoa & fungal hyphae? Ionic form nutrients in CT? Not much in the lab tests I had conducted. Presuming predation?

@sanddraggercali I agree...I've worked in the healthcare industry before, and he needs to be a little more specific with his claims.

I can answer that. Hydrogen peroxide (3%) is water with an extra oxygen molocule that is unstable and will attach to an organic compount and oxidize it. This kills pathogens, specifically anerobic bactera. It also supplies oxygen to the good bacteria so they dont drown right away in the tea.

Hi michael, i was wandering why you sugested the peroxide in the compost tea for foliar application? Killing the biology seems like it defeats the purpose of applying compost tea.
