  • That is a "loaded" question and one that to be answered in depth would require some time. But suffice to say we are way beyond "thinking" that gluten causes autoimmune disease. The facts are fairly irrefutable with certain diseases.

Do understand that celiac IS an autoimmune disease itself and its association with diabetes and thyroid disease, as an example, is well documented.

"How" it occurs is well explained in my book, "The Gluten Effect".

    Hope that helps!

  • @christenstjohn If you have Celiac disease and stop eating gluten... You know without a doubt. I can tell you with certainty that every single time I get any speck of gluten contaminates on my food that within the day I will be experiencing pain and lethargy. As soon as I am back to strict control of gluten my digestion improves, skin tone, energy levels and general sense of well being. Before going gluten and casein free I got Bronchitis every year. Not anymore. It is crystal clear to me.

  • @Robinbaja Knowledge is power! Until you become your own expert on health and nutrition you will be tossed to and fro by the fads and those seeking to become rich at the expense of your health. I have fought a unique combination of Celiac, herediatary diabetes along with thyroid issues by living a modified Paleo lifestyle. I eat no grains or other complex carbs. I eat lots of spinach, kales and other non-inflammatory greens. Look into Lectins and Phytates. If you are blood type O, go PaleO

  • I have Hashimoto's as well. I cannot lose weight. I simply cannot.

  • OMG>>> that shirt! :0

  • I have Hashimoto's disease by the way.
