The wind wasn't that bad, I only don't use flaps if there's wind over ten or if there's a gust factor, he was fine. Not enough wind to give him too much trouble.

using a notch of flaps on a windy day? seems a little unneeded to begin with its only going to throw you around more in the wind

Either the wind was really variable, or it wasn't a good landing - too low, then lots of power - overcontrol, and then landing quite far down.

Read the description. If I remember correctly, winds were gusting 20+ knots that day.
