To run the Iditarod I believe it costs an average of about 20,000 dollars...Timewise I spent over 200 hours last year training and racing my Junior Iditarod team, so mulitply that by about 20 and you get roughly the amount of time for training an Iditarod team!
What ever happens I hope you get to run the race someday!

I really hope to run the Iditarod one day. I have a basic knowledge of mushing, but no experience. We don't receive a lot of snow very often in the Washington, D.C. area, so it's a little difficult to try snow mushing. On average, how much money and time do you need to invest per year towards this event? I love the winter, and I'm real good with dogs, so I'd definitely like to try this run one day.
