I have created this 3D animated 6min clip in 2004. I was burning with enthusiasm to learn 3D graphics and to use it to create a space battle in a Babylon 5 universe. I did my scenes one after another until I bumped into a certain 3D modeling issue and I did not ignore it by doing it poorly, but consulted with different forums, used try and error approach and this used to happen almost in each scene. There are some scenes that are several seconds long and they had to be rendered by my 1.6 GHz computer for over 12 hours (so you can consider the quality of the graphics).
When I started this project, I even didn't know how to make a point light to change its color =]. Everything I have learned was in the production process and it was done in one year.
So my point is: I did a real bloody work by putting into it my heart, my love to Babylon 5 and my grades at risk =]. Yet you are free to criticize it because I can see some drawbacks my self in it, but may be one day I will continue my work :).

Some model credits are not mentioned (I don't know them).

  • Beautifully artistic scenes, camera angle and rotation is reminiscent of a genius director. Scenes take a nice slow pace soaking in the details. Solid quality of background (planet/nebula). Awesome new-style jump-point if you made it yourself. Beautiful use of music. And I am filled with happiness to see my baby in action like that. The firing sequence was very impressive. Just excellent. I know lots of B5 fans out there would love to see this Warlock v. Sharlin battle.

  • Cheers, man I just came to realize that you are the guy behind the Warlock :D

  • Thanks, its an old video now and I have advanced in 3D quite a bit and reconfirmed some technical information (like G.O.D. canon color). There was a joint idea about doing a similar project but it failed coz it was jus a hoby that drains time =]. Anyways maybe more in the future.

  • Thanks all, it was Lightwave 3D, Photo Draw - for some pic editing and Ulead Video Studio to stick all togather.

  • No, the jump point is not mine :]

  • Sharlin wouldnt be defeated by a Warlock....

  • This is wonderful!

  • This damn WMG ruined one of best soundtracks I ever heard! Damn Them! ALL of them!

  • hi, any tip on where to start learning this stuff?

  • Definitely this hobby drains LOTS of time. But its so much fun! I take year-long breaks. In case you continue, I can offer some CC: Resolution is too low, compression too high, can't clearly see your beautiful work. Camera movement (around 2:03 & 3:24) is awkward, try parenting camera to nulls and using camera to rotate, and the null to move. That way you won't have awkward camera way-points. Too dark around 3:16, try doing test-renders of every 15th frame before rendering out the entire scene.

  • I think they are both red.

  • Brilliant, 5*.

  • really really good amazing even you must be really good on light wave cause i cant do one thing
