And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
A hand-me-down dress from who knows where
To all tomorrow's parties

And where will she go and what shall she do
When midnight comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door

And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
Why silks and linens of yesterday's gowns
To all tomorrow's parties

And what will she do with Thursday's rags
When Monday comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door

And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
For Thursday's child is Sunday's clown
For whom none will go mourning

A blackened shroud, a hand-me-down gown
Of rags and silks, a costume
Fit for one who sits and cries
For all tomorrow's parties

  • i think this is the best velvet song ever....

  • One of the most influential bands of all time.

And a song that has possibly been covered by more artists than any other song in the history of underground music.

Truly, this is underground music's classic track of all time.

    Nico rules!

    Thanks for the post.

  • fuck nico, the song performed by lou reed is (1;~) times better.

  • @skillzthatchillz bestsongever

  • I'm new to velvet underground. i looked them up on wikipedia and discovered they are a 60's band. I never would have guessed. Way before their time. Some of this reminds of syd barrett. Well anyways can anyone recommend some songs to a new comer?

  • One of the best song ever, Nico was my idol, I'm 26 and I can't get her out of my head. Loud Reed and the Velvet Underground are probably the most influential band ever. I spent all my adolescence listening to their music, unbelievable, tremendous & emotional. Thank you Nico, thank you Lou Reed, you've changed completely the way I'm living my life.

  • @tionaryfoo fool.

  • magic song

  • @tionaryfoo His? It's actually Nico singing. Who was a woman. A German woman with a very thick, deep accent at that.

  • What the fuck is up with his voice? They sound retarted.

  • uh, matter of opinion.
