Original? The fact is that "In 1990 Per Gessle wrote a single, "The Sweet Hello The Sad Goodbye", for Thomas Anders (of Modern Talking fame)." (Wikipedia). In 1991 the single was released. This song also appears in the second solo album of Thomas Anders (Whispers - released the same 1991). Roxette version of this song appeared in 1991 too, but only as B side of a single "Spending my time" and hasn't been included in their 1991 album Joyride.
