Jeff Wood is scheduled for execution in Texas on August 21, 2008 for a murder that he did not commit. He was convicted under the law of parties for a murder committed by someone else.
Wood was granted a stay of execution after this news story.
@wardenphil correct but it was not abolished until 1969

@mtenor It doesn't matter. He drove the others to the scene of the crime knowing they carried deadly weapons. When two or more people conspire to commit at least one felony, ALL are EQUALLY and FULLY guilty of ALL crimes committed by ANY of the participants. That's the deal.

@mtenor I disagree, and I stand by my original comment. Don't commit felonies with deadly weapons.

I heard a story that, back in the 1950's in Texas, two punks committed an armed robbery and got into a shootout with police. The police shot and killed one of the robbers - no one else got hurt and the other robber was arrested. He was put to death in the Texas Electric Chair because someone had lost their life as a result of him committing a felony. I have no problem with this - if you don't want to die, don't commit felonies with deadly weapons.
