On October 7, 2009, the Pro-Life Action League, in conjunction with a number of other Illinois pro-life groups, organized a protest and press conference at Chicago's City Hall to oppose a proposed "Bubble Zone" ordinance.
The Ordinance would make it illegal to come within 8 feet of someone entering a health facility. This would render nearly impossible the life-saving work of sidewalk counseling, one of the League's most important projects.
Speakers at the press conference included Joe Scheidler, national director of the Pro-Life Action League, Peter Breen, executive director of the Thomas More Society Pro-Life Law Center, Chicago, sidewalk counselors Shannon Bruckner, Norah Doherty and Kathy Mieding as well as Sirina, a woman who brought her pregnant daughter to get an abortion only to be saved from the pain of abortion by sidewalk counselors.
Sidewalk Counselors God Bless All of you.
