Wahpah and her husband Panyor are newly-arrived Karen refugees. Wahpah assumes the role of home-maker, looking after their young children. Panyor however, finding it hard to secure a job, succumbs to excessive gambling. The negative effect of problem gambling on their relationship escalates. Wahpah confides in her father Dohsay about the trouble. Dohsay, a respected member of the Karen community, realises that the young
family need help and intervenes.
