December 15th,2009- Even though the flight that had been postponed for nearly 2 and a half years, and 6 tries later, the flight of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner finally made take off today. The plane can be viewed as an engineering feat, but there are apparently some doubts.
The current combination of carbon-fiber and titanium are to make the aircraft lighter, and therefore consume less fuel, which is good news for the crippled economy that we now find ourselves in, but due to the unforeseen circumstances that lead to the plane being delayed so many times, some people are beginning to tremble in fear about the prospect about boarding these planes, if they werent already skeptic about them in the first place. Especially after the events of 9/11.
No matter what the public think, the plane will still go through vigorous tests in the next 9-12 months, and if all is well, will become one of the planes of the future.
The Boeing 787 has finally taken off on its first flight after two and half years of problems which included design faults, staff strikes and even a shortage of bolts.
The deal originally came about six years ago when the Boeing board gave the thumbs up to offer the jet for sale on December 15, 2003, but even though the sales were somewhat extraordinary in 2007, when the plane originally rolled out from the Everett Factory, a series of delays and issues prevented the plane from making its sky born debut until today. The last planned date for the 787 was in June, but due to a structural flaw in the wing, the scheduled debut was pushed back again.
But Dreamliner No. 1, finally took to the skies today, and was cheered on by several thousand company employees and spectators who saw the jet lift off the ground with its carbon-fiber reinforced plastic shell in the rain into the Pacific Northwest sky.
The Dreamliner is one of five more test airplanes to join the ranks over the next nine months, all trying to seek the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), who are mapping the boundries of the airplanes performance. If the plane passes the test, the plane will then be certified to carry passengers, to which then Boeing will then hope to deliver the first production airplane to All Nippon Airways of Japan by the end of 2010.

yes beautiful,bravo!..but may I ask..where is the infamous stream coming out the rear of the plane that we can see hovering in our skies everyday. Conveniently, this plane has no visible stream.Sure,it's most likely because it's just taking off,but I'm still willing to bet that this here beauty ain't gonna have a string from its butt that hovers over after it flies by..i'm willing to bet since this one is for show,it's gonna fly right purty w/ no trail n sight! that's ok,peeps r waking up anyway!

Another ugly invention (referring to exterior and size)...
Why cant aircraft designers design a plane like the boeing 777. It would have also been better if this plane were bigger and taller. The only thing i like about the 787 is the interior & tech thats all. The boeing 777 has a look of pefection associated to it.
