How to Set Up a Standard Definition Capture Card

This tells you how to split your signal for your capture card. Mine is an EXTERNAL Dazzle DVC170 Platinum edition capture card. Here are the supplies you need:

3 AV Splitters
2 AV-RCA Cables (White, Yellow, Red)
Capture Card
Female Adapter

If your TV has an In and Out port, you just need 1 AV-RCA Cable. Put your consoles cables into the IN port, and make sure you can see your consoles game/mainscreen, then put the RCA in the OUT port, then into your capture card.

To set it up WITHOUT an In/Out port, this video explains it.

If it doesn't make sense too you, ask me and I will do my best. I had to record in a small area because I will not record my entire house or room.

Why split your signal? So you can record and play at the same time. If you plugged it into your capture card without splitting, you get a huge lag. It sucks.

How much is all this stuff? Relatively cheap these days. Dazzle's can be anywhere from $10 used to $70 new. Everything together shouldn't be more than $85.

Prices change. I can't keep up today with it all.

@MrViele83 It records to your hard drive, so you just delete the file when you're done compressing or uploading or doing whatever to it. The time depends on the amount of space left, it could be 4 minutes or it could be 3 days.

my xbox 360 has av and hdmi ports in the back and the hdmi is in the tv and i need to find the av and get a dazzle so i can plug the av into it then it records on the computer
