This group originated in New Zealand, being a progression from The Four Fours. They came to the UK in the mid-sixties and issued a few singles without any success. This classic piece of psych was issued on Deram in 1967.
This song totally rules! Great vocal harmonies. Excellent bass. And the Morse code intro and outro is pure genius! I absolutely love it. Was the 1960s THE best time for pop music or what?
I remember seeing The Human Instinct performing "A Day in My Minds Mind" on the BBC TV programme "Tomorrows World" to demonstrate microphones sticking out of the body of the guitar (I think). I don't think it will catch on!! I bet the BBC haven't still got that clip, either!! And talking about the BBC, I also remember Jimmy the Ferret on a Radio WM programme in the '80s & '90s called "The Record Collectors" with Mike Adams & Chris Savory,on a Friday evening at about 7.00pm. Small world, eh?!
