This video was very informative. Thanks!

Thanks for putting this video together. I just fixed my Frigidaire dishwasher using your instructions. There was some type of stone/ceramic piece that was stuck to one of the blades. Removing it solved the problem.

@NJ2017 Maybe chat with specialist parts dealers suppling the industry? The guys on the trade counter are in constant contact with the guys you want. Even just approaching some local companies who offer services in this field and explaining that you'd like to break into the business couldn't hurt. With any luck the conversation might lead to some sort of hands-on experience. It sucks getting your foot in the door in any industry I guess, but then it's hard for your competition too :)

@NJ2017 Hmm I guess you want to open up as many lines of communication with people in the business. Perhaps there are a few trade associations for appliance repair guys? if you can join one or two of those, that leads to newsletters, mailing lists and access to people/other resources. Internet forums? There's bound to be a bunch of those dedicated to the subject as well.

@OftenMisled I'm in the United States, I just assumed you and I were in the same country. I would think two years of studying the subject and getting some first hand experience might be good enough. How do you think I would go about checking out the qualifications in my area?

@NJ2017 Thanks! It's surprising how few people there are that do this kind of work. I just try to help people and the rest falls into place :) Good luck!

@applianceassistant I have no real knowledge of this field or anything, as a matter or fact I am graduating high school in a few months, how do you suggest I go about entering this field? (trade school, community college, four year, etc)

@NJ2017 It depends on your state what certificates may be needed. But in most cases you just need to be able to fix things well and be honest and fair so that word of mouth advertising will spread your good name. There are some large differences from one appliance brand to another, however the same components and basic mechanics are for the most part used over and over. If you learn basic circuitry and get some hands on classes at a trade or community collage it would be a good start.
