White had been arrested just a day earlier -- accused of killing county police Corportal Richard Findley. Findley was hit and dragged on Friday by a pickup truck that was reported stolen. Now the F-B-I and the Maryland State Police are investigating the 19-year old inmate's death.SOT: We 're, as I indicated, angry, we're upset and these acts do not reflect the value of the people of Prince George's County. The killing of the officer is just absolutely a horror. But also, Mister White was presumed to be innocent. White had been labeled as a high-profile offender. He was being held alone in a maximum-security cell. Guards checked on White at 10:15 Sunday morning. At that time he appeared alert, sitting on his bunk. 15 minutes later, guards returned ... To find White sitting on the floor -- unresponsive. The state medical examiner now says White died from asphyxiation and strangulation.SOT: We do know that based on the shifts there were seven people that had access to him. He was not on suicide watch and there was nothing to indicate that he was suicidal All seven are guards at the prison. An unspecified number of supervisors also had access to the 19-year-old suspect. And authorities are now trying to determine if any outsiders had access to the inmate. Corporal Findley was a ten-year veteran of the police force.
